Washington, DC -- A last-minute peace accord reached by two major DC Star powerhouses shocked WAKA analysts and paves the way for the first détente (happy hour) in 60 years of the “New Black” War. The thawing relations were made possible when the anticipated Sensations-Keg treaty talks dissolved amid leaked transcripts of the negotiations.
“We are cautiously optimistic. Ten bucks for 5 beers, free tacos, and it’s on the Metro,” said Sensations Cruise Ship Activities Director Sam Arora. “Besides, everyone’s got game at Front Page.”
“This is a small step but an important one in the peace process. We must concentrate on the task ahead,” said Deflated Balls team captain Kim Aslen in a written statement. “That is, finding somewhat attractive people on other teams to flirt with.”
The rivalry between the Sensations Without Representation and Deflated Balls began in 1945, when the defeat of the Sino-Team Swayze axis left a power-vacuum for supremacy in kickball fashion and left open the question “Who is the new ‘black’?” The Sensations, clad in pink, wasted no time in thrusting their color-supremacy over Western Europe, while Deflated Balls, wearing orange and formerly puke-green, dominated the Eastern bloc. Historians note that the events of the so-called “New Black” War have paralleled those of the Cold War but without end until today.
