DC Star Captains –
Please read the below message carefully – it includes updates and questions for you - and let me know if you have any questions…
1> 4:45 p.m. games will not start until all games at 4:00 p.m. have ended. This is intended to enable those who who are reffing the 4pm games enough time to rejoin for their teams for the later game. I know when its hot, we all want to move faster, but we have to be fair and not cut short the first round of games to move on to the next.
2> I had hoped I wouldn’t have to remind people of this, but when you assign a ref to a game, PLEASE ENSURE THAT THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THE RULES AND UNDERSTANDS THEIR ROLE DURING THE GAME. THEY MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE ENTIRE GAME. I have cheat sheets about what each baseline ref and Head Ref have responsibility for calling…and I’m happy to give you one on Sunday if you have any questions.
3> Please send me the names of your team’s TWO designated HEAD REFS before Sunday 8/28 if possible. These folks will be eligible to receive a WAKA REFEREE T-Shirt at the fields this Sunday.
4> Every team MUST HAVE A WRITTEN kicking lineup prior to each game. It's in the rules, people...
5> Starry Awards start this Sunday…check out the newsletter and Web site for the full list of categories. Please encourage your teammates to vote early and often!
6> Flip cup standings are being reinstated, but will be based on matches between the teams who just played on the field each week. Patrick from Flame On! and Scotty from Wackos will have more information this Sunday at the bar...
