You know what's funny? The Kilgore campaign! It's like watching a TV sitcom with a laugh track. Except it's not funny. It's pathetic really. Must be on the WB network!

What's so funny about peace, love and fiscal responsibility? The combination makes a sober hippy? Which I guess isn't very funny at all...

Hi, I'm Jerry Kilgore. I can't make a decision about anything cause I'm a girl thingy. Hmm...Virginia's $90 billion dollar deficit from the Republican Jim Gilmore administration? Well, I'm a girl thingy and won't make any tough decisions, so...let's call for a public referendum and leave it up to the voters! Yeah...that makes total sense. - Kilgore in 2004
Hi, I'm Jerry Kilgore. Kaine and Warner suck. They raised taxes! Boo!! They saved VA's AAA bond rating, meaning VA can borrow money (at the lowest level of interest as any other state in th whole country) so we can invest in our state colleges and universities, or build new public schools in Southwest Virginia or widen Interstate 88 allowing more traffic to flow north and south so commerce can move through rural Virgina.
Boo!!! Warner and Kaine gave us a multi-billion dollar surplus, which isn't being used for any spending spree, but is actually shoring up the transportation fund and out rainy day fund.
Boo!!! Warner and Kaine gave a raise to our state police and other emergency responders, many of whom were living on food stamps because their pay was so low under Republican Administrations.
Hey, remember last year, when I said we should let voters decide what their elected officials should do, instead of having the sack to make the tough decisions we get elected to make?
Well, this year, I don't want many debates against my opponent Democrat Tim Kaine. Nope, I want as little public debate as possible. I don't want the public to have ANY insight into this race. - Kilgore in 2005

What's so funny about peace, love and fiscal responsibility? Personally I don't find the way the Commonwealth attacks the rights of Gays and Lesbians to be full of peace and love... more like hatred and bigotry. But that's why I don't live, work, or shop in the Commonwealth. My money is best spent supporting Maryland and DC businesses.

It totally sucks that the majority of the state legislature is willing to amend the Commonwealth's laws with bigotry (assuming the voters of the state approve the amendment to the state's constitution defining marriage). I love VA and have worked in the legislature (for a Dem), but am saddened at times, by the fact that VA is slow to change and quick to react. We were the last state to lift a ban on interracial marriage in the 70s and now we're almost ready to write bigotry back into our laws. I'm sorry RodeoJock that you want to boycott the Old Dominion. I understand why you want to. But, please be assured that many of us in VA will work to defeat the 2006 referendum. There are many of us in VA working to defeat the bigots in the Republican Party of VA. We have some great candidates running as democrats who refuse to define marriage and will support gay couples adopting children and civil unions. I invite you to check out the VA Partisans website to learn more about these good hearted candidates: www.vapartisans.org/Or Equality Virginia to learn more about defeating the 06 referendum www.equalityvirginia.org/site/pp.asp?c=dfIIITMIG&b=132638I know many Shockers and Awers are already working hard to elect good Democrats (including Tim Kaine, Leslie Byrne and Creigh Deeds) and I hope you and your friends will consider coming over to friendly Arlington to lend a hand!!

Smaha- Don't misunderstand my distate for the Commonwealth. I lived there once upon a time and still have family in Arlington, Alexandria, and VA Beach. I know that not everyone, like residents of most states, are not knee-jerk reactionary wingnuts. I sent letters to the Governor and legislators after their last round of hate laws (with no response I might add) and told them that the $40K I spent on businesses in NOVA last year would go to DC and MD businesses and that I would no long conduct business with folks that have HQs in VA. Personally, I've felt for many years that NOVA should just suceed from the Commonwealth like WV did a hundred years ago. The fact that our politics are still relatively land-based gives the red-staters too much power in locales like VA. And I appreciate your and the Whacko's efforts to topple the nutcases in your legislature... and I hope you're working to end the moronic one-term limit on your governors, too.

Still in shock that Lise Van Susteren, a forensic psychiatrist and sister of Fox News personality Greta Van Susteren, is running for the Senate in MD.
Please God no more Aruba coverage!

You can say that again. I'd rather see coverage of another MJ trial than the Aruba story...

Northern Virginians are supportive of gay rights --- Smaha forgot to mention that Arlington's very own Chairman of the County Board, Jay Fisette, is openly gay. He's running unopposed for re-election (because the republican strategists are too chicken to run candidates against our Dems in NoVA since they think they can supress voter turnout for local races, thereby suppressing the Dem vote for Gov in NoVA) GET OUT THE VOTE! Don't let the crazy conservatives take over our beautiful state! www.jayfisette.org-Tracy Shock & Awe

Tracy: Yeah, Jay's awesome. I've followed his carreer for the last several years. He has shaken things up a bit in the Commonwealth. He is one of the few politicians that has consistently marched/ridden in the Pride Parade each year. I have a lot of respect for him as he's a lone blueboy in a sea of red...
