Yeah, they now have that Open tournament ($500 non-refundable) for any team -- WAKA or otherwise. You can mix-and-match your players and do whatever. I think they may try to keep that one in the DC-ish area.
They also got rid of the "regional" playoffs and the two national tournaments each year and replaced them with a single annual WAKA championship. This one is still refundable when you show up, but is in Boston this year. I think the winner and runner-up from each division gets invited, but I'm not 100% on that. Next year there are rumours of it being in Vegas.

While I only played in one, I do miss the tournaments when The Mall teams or the Adams Morgan teams would play each other, was nice to have that rivalry between teams that played different nights or locations.

It would be fun to do a Mall Teams All-Star game sometime. If the three of us put up two teams, that could be a great Sunday post-season, especially if we could find a beer-in-hand location. BTW, where is Monument playing these days? Is there a place on the Ellipse that's still open?

They are further down towards the WWII Memorial from what I've seen.

They are further down towards the WWII Memorial from what I've seen. That would explain NAKID encroaching on our fields the last week or two.
