That would be a pretty fun match...Awkward Mornings v. Below Us. We should set up a scrimmage!

From where the ReguGators are on there, you're all below us.
If any of the teams hit up the tournament in June, there is a chance they'll play.

That would be a very interesting game. I wonder if it could get tagged on to the end of the season or something.
There's a slight chance we'll play in June, but I don't know that people want to pay $50 each into WAKA's pockets just for a weekend. Rather do the thing in Boston (if we make the division final).

www.kickball.com/tournaments/open/news.php$500 for each team to register? So 64 times 500 is $32,000?! Then they are only giving back $5,000 of that to the winning team? That's a crapload of money for WAKA for one day of organizing. The only ones that will probably go are the superteams with 11 of the best people jammed on a team with each person paying $45. Then for $300 more, you can get food, gatorade, a cooler and 4 chairs? What a rip-off! I guess this is why they moved the national championship out of DC. Now anyone that wants to play good teams from other divisions needs to pay. What crap! They should have city/region playoffs on the mall and stop dicking us around. WAKA is getting more greedy all the time.

Not to defend WAKA and their money-grubbing hands, but it does take a lot of money to organize an event like that... field fees if applicable, portapotties, other licenses, equipment, those stupid special t-shirts, and perhaps paying refs?
But, it does sound like the teams would be paying for most of it, with not much coming from WAKA's fat pockets, anyway.

I'm pretty sure you dont have to make division finals anymore to go to the tournaments. When we were in Richmond last year RTFM was there, and I actually think it was scheduled before most teams even had division playoffs.

Last year, wasn't that $500 just a deposit?? You got it back once you played your first game. I remember someone saying last season (maybe spring) that it was to keep teams from registering and not showing up. There was a rash of no-shows one year that threw a wrench in the tourney...
Anyone else remember that?

You are correct Patrick, the 500 is a deposit for WAKA regionals. I've been to Annapolis and Richmond, neither time did I have to pay out of my own pocket.
The Kickball.com tourney isnt just WAKA (though they seem to be running most of it) I think they did away with the twice a year playoffs in favor of one, and the results are some tournaments springing up that are open to all teams in all leagues (Nakid, DCKickball, MUSA if they'd come this far etc.)

The text was just so small! Damned eye doctor and her one contact shenanigans!
