I think I need to read the whole series again as book seven is almost here! I'm about halfway through book five again just for the reason. I'm hoping I'll get six finished before seven arrives on the 21st. Once it comes, I'm going into hiding until I'm finished with is so no one can spoil the ending!

But can I bring the coffee into the theatre is the question.
I'm not in charge of making plans for people that both live AND work in the commonwealth.

HP was awesome! Though, the fight scenes at the end were going by so fast, I didn't have time to process THE SPOILER b/c they went back to fighting right away. Definitely worth going to the midnight show!
I'm thinking about trying to reread Half-Blood Prince before next week.... but, I'm putting down my book club book next weekend to read #7!

Wow, no spoiler warning from Andrea for those who havn't read the book. I was very impressed by the movie, especially considering it was my least favorite book. This is in contrast to the 4th movie, which i thought was disappointing considering it was my favorite book that i thought had the most potential (still excellent, but a "could've been better" type of thing). Only gripes: -First 20 minutes felt like watching a horror film, with lots of "Boo!" scenes. I guess it prepares you for the end of happy-jolly wizard land, but it was a little much. -Ending credits music was way too cheery considering the rest of the movie is dark and foreboding. -Changed the look of the dementors. Not arguing whether new or old look was better, but strange choice for continuity. Everything else in-between was excellent Umbridge was particularly great casting and whats-her-face from Fight Club was a nice choice for Bellatrix Lestrange.

Agreed, Andrea poor form, edit that.
While I agree that they did a great job of making the movie work, I will say that it may have been a mistake to reread the book right before seeing the movie. I focused a lot more on things that were changed or left out than I probably should have...of course thats true of almost every book to movie adaptation, just would have been better had it not been so fresh in my mind.

I agree with you, Scooter. In preparation for the release of Deathly Hallows (in just eight days!), I am in the midst of finishing the book HPOOTP. I, too, noticed most of what has been left out and in a way was annoyed at a few of the things that were changed, particularly who dropped and destroyed the orb.
But as I've said from day one of these movies, they have done an excellent job of casting (even the most minor roles). Emma Thompson as Trelawney, Maggie Smith as MacGonnegal, Gary Oldman as Sirius, Alan Rickman as Snape, Julie Walters as Molly Weasley, to the latest additions of Evvana Lynch as Luna Lovegood and, my latest favorite casting, Helena Bonham Carter as the evil witch Bellatrix Lestrange. I can't wait to see Helena in the next movie in this role. She's perfect.
What other franchise of movies and you remember that has had this many movies made? James Bond? Star Wars? Rocky? LOL. Of the dozen or so that may come to mind, how many have been lucky to be of such high quality, kept the attention of its viewers, AND more importantly, be able to hang on to all but one of its original cast members and that one was due to his unfortunate death?
Even though the dementors are different, some plotlines were left out, and some other changed, this is certainly one of the best film series that have ever been made. (Star Wars lost its luster for me after Empire Strikes Back...) In some ways, I wish they had turned Goblet and Phoenix into three, or even four, full-length feature films. I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly would have paid the extra cash to see two more!
