oK, so i changed my post, but really? Even if you haven't read the books, don't people know that starting with book 4 there is a SPOILER in each book? Unless you live under a rock, you hear these things at the water cooler. Meaning these "kids" books are becoming more adult in nature.... and really, Patrick just talked about dropping the orb... not as big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but boo to you all too. I think it was better for me not to have re-read the Order of the Phoenix before seeing it b/c I could enjoy the movie more and not get caught up in what they left out.... But, I do think it would have been nice for those who didn't read the book learn more about the Blacks' house elf, and the family tree.... That's the one thing that I remembered that they definitely breezed over at the end, and to me, they seemed to realize that needed to do that for the climax of the movie.

Well, at least I didn't say exactly what the orb is... please, it wasn't a spoiler.
And yeah, the skipping of the Black family history (and his mother's WAILING portrait) was a huge mistake. That was the set up for Bellatrix killing Sirius, as well as introducing Malfoy's mother and Bellatrix's sister, Narcissa, in the sixth book. I thought it was kind of important to show the irony in the connection between the House of Black and Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix.

You certainly didn't hold back the spoilers on that last one though Patrick! Also I'm confused... you thought Carter was your least favorite casting, but still perfect? What I found weird about them not showing the wailing portrait is that they bothered to show Creacher for all of 20 seconds AND showed him standing near the covered portrait with it mumbling a little bit. I figured they'd show the full reveal at some point but it never happened. What was the point of the tease? Wonder if it'll be in the DVD extras. I wonder if changing the directors between each movie leads to some of the weird decisions on what gets kept/cut in preparation for the following movie. I'm happy this one brought back the Harry Potter Theme music! Andrea - I definitely agree that reading the book right before the movie is killer. That's probably what killed Goblet of Fire for me more than anything else. This time around I had a year in-between. I think I got the most enjoyment out of seeing the movies a few years before I started reading the books.

Yeah, but I still really enjoyed Goblet of Fire the movie... maybe because it's been my favorite book so far, too. I understand why they left out big chunks of the book in the movie b/c it was just so huge... though, obviously all the subplots rolled up to make the book what it was. However, i do understand hollywood really just focusing on the tri-wizard tourney and the main parts that kept the overall harry vs. voldemort story going... And... I digress. And, wow, Patrick, talk about spoiler! At least i didn't say WHO it was the first time i posted. But, for the weakest book, IMO, this might be the best movie... I think someone else stated that earlier, and I concur.

When I was reading the book and moved to Half-Blood Prince, HBC was the person I cast in the movie in my head. Just like Snape was ALWAYS Rickman in my head.

Please. none of those were spoilers. They're so out of context.
I can't wait to see who they cast as Narcissa Malfoy in the next movie. And I was really happy to finally see something Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy). He speech in the Veil Room was awesome, rather Shakespearean. Of course, the phone book read with an English accent can sound Shakespearean to most Americans. LOL

Wow, I must have read over it at least 3 times and still didn't get it right. Whoops! So who are you picturing for Narcissa?

So who are you picturing for Narcissa? I'm at a loss on her. I see her angular face and her long, straight, straw-like hair in my mind, but can't bring it into focus. I'll think about it this weekend at the French W.hore Party and see what I come up with. I'm sure a little vodie will help!

I'll agree to that... though, I may be loaning my book to one of my cousins so they can read it at the same time... you know, the whole "who gets to read the one copy we have in the house first" thing.... Hopefully I'll be done by the end of the month!
