Ok I thought I would weigh in on this, before any one else did...and I knwo you all are just thrilled to know my opinion.
As much as i thnk that T.O. is a clown, I am not sure that I truly believe that this was an actual suicide attempt. I heard the first reports of his hospitalization early early this morning, and then when i got to work, heard about the "suicide attempt". Basing solely on the knowledge that he has had advers reactions to medication before, and the excrutiating pain that a broken hand can cause, I feel that this could quite possibly be simply just another adverse reaction. the reports do not seem to me to add up to prove that this was a suicide attempt....but who knows. We will never know unless T.O says something about it.
On the other hand, many professional (and amateur) athletes are truly depressed. The competitiveness and level of pressure on these guys is unbelievable, and a ta human development level, many professional, college and high school football players have the personality traits to feed into a pre disposition for depression.
Will be an interesting story to watch develop.
Just my two cents.

This is why my friend is getting her Ph.D. in sports psychology. She went to one in college and not only improved but felt a whole lot better. I know it's off-topic... but, sports psych is nothing to scoff at.
I just think it's sad... I don't doubt with all the pressure, etc. that he's depressed, detached, etc... but, suicide? That's not a good way to get publicity. He's already got enough. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he's in trouble and needs help.

LOL, that was just a joke. But it's funny that you guys thought that it could be true (cause nothing is ever T.O.'s fault).
It's as if God said "I want to make the perfect football player" but He spent so much time on the body the only brain that was left came from the "Corky or below" pile.

Well right after I read your post I went looking for the statement and didn't find it but no I would not put that past him to do it And I think God followed Igor (from Young Frankenstein) and got one of those Abi Normal brains

i cannot believe that any of you thought that what MA said was serious. Come on guys, really. How could you take that as a serious statement, knowing that TO has always, and will continue to, blame his teammates for everything.
MA....i thought it was hysterical and right away knew it was a joke. Maybe you and i should stick to talking to each other about things like this. Geez.....

I'll have to quote the sports guy for my feelings on this one...
"Why are we still wondering what happened with T.O.? Isn't it clear? He took some painkillers, received a physical therapy session (which always puts you in a weird mental state) and accidentally took a couple more painkillers. That was followed by his PR lady coming in, mistakenly overreacting and calling police. When they showed up, a zoned out T.O. acted erratically enough that police jumped to the wrong conclusion. They took him to the hospital and realized he was fine. And then everyone subsequently tried to cover it up the fact that he has been depressed/moody/sullen enough lately that his PR person thought it was CONCEIVABLE that he could have tried to kill himself.
Basically, we learned people close to T.O. believe he's moody, erratic and potentially a threat to himself. All of which we already knew. Making this one of the single dumbest sagas of all-time ... unless you're a Cowboys fan and it's threatening to derail your season. Then it's something else.
(By the way, it's truly alarming when Terry Glenn is considered the sane receiver on a football team.)"

Why is it that football and basketball are so full of drama?
I mean have you ever heard of a pro soccer or hockey player doing this kind of stuff? Geesh, could you imagine if a golfer was involved... yawn. LOL

What about the drama over Malkin disappearing for a few days before suddenly showing up in the States and joining the Penguins?
