I think you had two other cents someplace else, troy... maybe the flip cup thread... which makes four cents.

Troy, it takes real skill to take advantage on the field, before the alcohol has skewed everyones judgement.
I think most teams are competitive on the fields, just hopefully not in an "I'm going to argue every call" kind of way. A lot of the good teams use fast overhand pitching, and I'm actually suprised you dont see more of it with how many veteran teams there are in Star.
I believe we were the middle of the road division, the social or "drunk" division was DC Kingdom.

On the off-track topic... you can't overrun 2nd and 3rd base, so the runner isn't flying into it at full-speed, unlike 1st. That's why the dual-base is only at 1st -- to reduce high speed collisions. Plus, plays at first are the most common. Back on-track, the dual first base is in a trial stage. We didn't have it the first week, so we still have another 1 or 2 weeks before we poll captains about it. If you'd like to keep it consistent, we can poll captains in a few weeks about the pitching-freedom as well. I'll have to make an announcement about it before this weeks games anyway (that an the damn airhorn). There is, however, a difference between the two rules. Adding a dual first base for safety doesn't change how the game is played. You don't change a strategy or restrict anything by having it. The pitching change, on the other hand, has a large impact on gameplay as youngone pointed out. This is why we would follow the WAKA rule on that one, and have more leeway for a division rule on the other. And honestly, youngone, you only wanted to recruit athletic people for your team this season, so you can't really say you only cared about the social aspects

Having someone run outside the foul lines to hit a base off to the right could effectively slow someone down enough to stop a home run as much as someone pitching 8 feet off the strip changes kicking dynamics. And if the refs would tell the people covering first base to back off the plate and teaching runners how to run to first base, there's a lesser chance of collisions. Players need to take responsibility for where they are during play to make sure people don't get hurt. And I'm done on this subject. Let's move on to that air-horn...

This whole debate and the controversy behind it is way too serious for A CHILD'S GAME.

Problem being that people dont have the skill when it comes to running the bases, and most of you know that if you take the time out to teach it, the people that already know it are usually the ones that show.
We had a nasty collision last year because a rather big player on another team was on first and blocking the whole plate. Now I know he shoudl have been leaning out of the basepath, but that doesnt always happen. I'm happy about the 2 bases on first rule.
I recommend that team captains have their players run suicides after games to get them conditioned to make up the extra step they are losing due to that base...afterall we dont want anyone robbed of a Home Run.

You people are kickball nazis... Drills? Practice? That's kind of expecting a lot for a game where people show up after "prepped" for the game with a champagne brunch!

Simmer, Scooter. Instead, I'll stick with my current strategy of paying little mind to the rules and showing up for games only after having sucked down a very nutricious liquid lunch.

P.S. It is not "cheating" to use a chair. I just think outside of the box.
