I learned a new rule this past sunday.. I have never seen it happen in the seasons I have played.
What happened was a teammate of mine got hit in the head while running the bases. However someone didn't throw it at her head, the ball was misthrown and bounced off the ground into her face. Initial reaction was that she was safe, our president in her infinite wisdom called her out. Stating that since the ball had bounced and was not being thrown at her, that it didn't matter where it hit.
anyways I found it interesting.
I also wanted to be the first to post in "ANYTHING DC STAR" forum

b0rk b0rk b0rk!!!
just a side note, I was the first to take out someone with a ball to the head! (well it was called safe, but anyone that will take a ball to the head and get a wet ass is safe by me) even if it wasn't intentional, I'm sure no one will ever let it down.. not even myself or the one I took down =) we still kid about it! and that's what makes kickball so fun =) being able to laugh about the field and drink after.. =)
yay kick ball!

Yeah I didn't know what to think about that call. But if anyone knows the rules it is the pres.
On a side note, I had to call a 12-stepper out on a hit to the head, but karma came back around and that is how I got out on my slide to third.

FYI: We checked with WAKA, the call was correct... a bounce to the head is considered unintentional and thus it's an out. I would imagine that purposefully trying to bounce it like a skyscraper in 4-square would be different, however.

That ruling makes sense....much the same way as the runner lowering down to slide or something, and getting pegged in the head, then the runner is out since aiming for the head was unintentional.
Plus, who can turn down free dental work? ;D
