My thought on the strike vs. foul call is that it is a foul. Now I am guilty of using my foot to stop a pitch that is obviously a ball and my sister always yells at me "that's why the catcher is there" but I do it just to get it back to the pitcher and keep the game moving. So I guess I should stop doing that.
As far as premature calling goes, once the ref makes his call then that is final whatever the call is. Now the kicker can still take a swing at it and if he fouls it then whatever happens happens. That means that if the ref calls a ball and the kicker either crushes it to deep center field or does the Troy tap to take the foul to get a better pitch to kick then that is the kickers choice. And really is anybody surprised that Faberman did something prematurely?
