What is "over analyzing?" Does hyper-analyzing sounds better to you?

the scary thing is, aren't there divisions more serious than us?

More serious on the fields yes (see also kickball365.com power rankings)...though I think Star overall has gotten much more competitive than it used to be.
I think the deal with the rules is that we actually get along enough to have these discussions...where as a lot of other divisions it may not come up as a question involving all of the teams (or at least the ones on the boards).

I think Star is more competitive in the Spring in a slightly more antagonistic way. (I don't mean that in a negative way...) But the Fall is usually so small and tight-knit that we all spend more time with each other socially because of the smaller number of people, so we feel more comfortable discussing the rules like this.
Also if you notice who's doing most of the discussing, it's more or less the vets that have been around a while... with the exception of Sanchez, of course.
I think one of the big bonus we have is that we do have our Board structure and work with that for the social and logistics parts of the division, but on things that relate directly to the game, such as rules and questionable calls, we're more consensus building and talkative about what we all think the outcome should be and the precedent to set for the future. It seems to work very well for us.

I think it all winds up for the best in the long run. When you look at the size of the "commonly miscalled rules" list, those were all major arguments at some time in the past.
Nowadays it's generally rare that we come across something we havn't figured out before, and it usually ends up being tiny details. The discussions on here are always aimed at figuring out what the correct call should be, so that we don't have to deal with it in the future.

We're all competitive, but as stated before, still out to have fun. I'm certainly competitive all-year-round, but I don't take it super serious.
