So here's my question, sparked by Taylor's strategy of having the catcher kick the ball to first to counter bunts. If said kick by the catcher hit the runner (not in head or neck) would that make the runner out?

I believe the runner is out, if the ball can bounce off the ground and get you out, there is no way a directed kick cant.
Honestly need a really really good kicker to pull this off. I'm only seen a kicking catcher done by The Others (which was an offshoot of Kick Asphault, who wins the championship on a regular basis). Most of the kicks are to first though, not at a player.
Even then its hard to be accurate. Their catcher messed up the kick when I was batting and it ended up sailing well over my head for an "overthrow" double.

Yeah I was thinking more of it accidentally hitting the runner on the kick aimed to first. I figured it would be an out as well based on the contact with ball being an out rule.

That would be an out as well
Just like in baseball if a runner is going from first to second and gets hit by a ball off the bat of the hitter then they are out.

Right, but in the case of the ball coming off of the bat (foot) its a dead ball. If it was kicked by a fielder into a runner, its still a live ball.
