I'd love to work out before work, but that would mean getting up close to 5am...and that conflicts with my bedtime

I love working out before work. It's such a good feeling to go home or to a happy hour after work and know there's not something you "have" to do or feel guilty. Then again, I don't sleep so it makes sense to stop tossing and turning at 6 am and work out.

I wish I could do the morning thing but I can't drag myself out of bed that early. Getting up at 7:45 in order to only be 15 minutes late for work is hard enough.

That could be the case while you're watching the clock. But as you settle in with it, that may go away. I used to work out during lunch and was just fine.

i think my issue with it is that i am on a time schedule because i need to get back to work after lunch. It my be completely mental, but i feel like when i know i have to get back within a reasonable time period, i skimp on really concentrating on doing the exercises correctly.

I think it also depends on WHAT kind of workout you're doing. I used to do a kickboxing class during lunch and it was a great workout. It was 45 mins which gave me a good 15 mins afterward to shower, etc., and get back to work. Of couse, I had a very flexible schedule at that job, so that might have give me more leeway.

work out, what's that?
I miss having a gym, used to work out 4-6 days a week but eff aerobics, I hate jogging/biking etc. I remember being in the best shape of my life 3 years ago, was taking jogging class and playing club lacrosse so was running 5 days a week plus lifting 3+ days a week. was 6'3" 185lbs and could bench 225 lbs 4 times. ahhh the good ol days. mind you I couldn't bench 135 lbs once coming out of HS

I think the best shape I've been in recently (HS was too long ago to recall) was after my second AIDS ride. After a summer of riding 150+ miles a week, then the 366 I clicked on the road that week, I was down to a slim 150 (at 5'8"), but since it was mostly aerobic exercise, I was not going to be lifting anything too terribly heavy.
