That blurb was essentially a copy of the one from the first DC Star writeup last season.
In other BU news, a whopping 4 of us scrimmaged with a good chunk of #2 nationally ranked Gonzo from VA Alexandria last night (Spring results... Runs scored: 139, Runs against: 1). There is another world of kickball skill that exists, but it was nice to see what we'll be up against come Boston and learn a few things. They were also all very nice and fully included us into what mostly became one of their practices.
Below Us will also be holding it's first team practice in history (i think) this Sunday as a final prep.
As for the tournament, I'm mostly hoping we get lined up in the same pool as ex-Team Kegger and message board staple Jared who's now playing for an NYC team. I miss his shi.t-talking. [would have been cool if Awkward Mornings accepted their invite!]

Yes...yes it woulda. But Boston is not a very inviting place for a kickball tournament. Maybe when we win the fall division, we'll get our invitation to the Nationals in Las Vegas next year =)

Update? I can pull some info off of the kickball365 site, was surprised to see that FL kickball has gotten that good that fast, but hey more power to them.

Florida played Florida in the finals -- they beat Kick Asphaults and Gonzo in the semis to get there I believe, which is pretty crazy.
We were in the group with the eventual winners (DWAKP). We played terribly against them and looked silly (errors, miscommunication, bad ideas). We would have easily been knocked out in ANY of our DC Star playoff games the way we played... and lost 12-1. Had we played up to our ability (or just eliminated the errors), it would have been more like 6-3 loss. But yeah, this one was an embarrassment. It was made worse that the kickball365.com guy happened to be watching this game and I think immediately crossed us off the watch list.
2nd game we beat a boston-area team 9-2.
3rd game we lost a really good game 3-2 against the top Boston squad. This one was a lot of fun to play. Both our captain and I got thrown out at plays at home. Myself and our other fast guy also got thrown out at 3rd when kickers were placing bunts down the first base line. Their infield had cannon arms and made it look like the kickballs were baseballs.
On a positive note, I think i went 6 for 7, with the out coming the only time I tried kicking instead of bunting.

Other notes: -Troy is a far better pitcher than anyone in our grouping (I didn't get to see KA pitch).
-After only a single practice session, Aaron learned how to overhand pitch and struck someone out swinging.
-WAKA was selling every trinket known to man with their logo on it, but didn't even have water or gatorade available for sale except to their own staff. One ahole staff member even had the audacity to tell one of our players "I'll give you one for $20" when asked. Our player promptly stole a water off a table instead and ran. He was not chased. -This was even more ridiculous when you consider it was a beautiful sunny day with all teams playing at least 3 games (some up to 6) with only a five minute break in-between. Besides missing out on some profit potential from the sales, this presented a danger for heat exhaustion. Many of us had brought our own supplies, but had assumed they could be supplemented at the fields and had to ration instead. There was a Whole Foods a mile away, but one would not have time to get there and back in-between games. Sorry for the rant, but I just can't comprehend this asinine decision.
-We were all at Clay Buchholz's no hitter and it was AWESOME.
-Our hotel was much better located than WAKA's, since we were 2 blocks from Fenway and Jillian's (the location of the free WAKA after-party). The after-party was pretty nice.
-There are a lot of really good looking girls that play kickball in MA.
-Jared's team held up pretty well for the group-of-death they got placed in (against KA and AU), but I'm pretty sure they didn't advance to the bracket round.

Lotsa good looking kickball girls in MA...cool....but they all sound like Pudge! Oh, that one's too easy... I'll lob it out of the park... Every time y'all write "MA" I read it as "Matt Allen" and it just sounds weird... "Lotsa good looking kickball girls in Matt Allen..."

BTW....what does DWAKP stand for...Drunks With A Kickball Problem?
And congrats on winning a game, almost 2!
I seriously can't believe my new team (Gonzo) and KA lost to FL-based teams. That just seems wrong. I've got to believe that Las Vegas will bring out a lot more teams next year. I know that Gonzo is already talking about revenge...goodness.
But the plus side to a new team winning...more ppl are getting into kickball seriously. If this turns into the case, and more random teams are winning, they could do the championships in the reigning champs hometown state, as opposed to random spots like Boston.

I cant believe you are playing for Gonzo....what happened to you?
When we played KA the pitching wasn't phenomenal (except that they'd pulled Wilner from OIP in as a backup), it was more that they play really well together and just do the little things right...you pay a lot more for your mistakes at that level.

Yessiree...I'm a part-timer for Gonzo now. It's about time someone recognized the skill and recruited me!
And there's nothing wrong with following kickball. It's no worse than following curling or cricket!!
