Many congrats go out to Wackos, Below Us, Sensations and Faith +1.
Below Us took down the Wackos in a very close game. Wacko's jumped out on top 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning. Below Us came back and tied the game up in the bottom. The game was lackluster until the bottom of the 4th, when Below Us managed 3 more runs, making it 4-1. The Wacko's couldn't match it up and lost 4-1.
I'm not too sure what happened in the Sensations and Faith game, as I was reffing the other game. In the top of the 5th, Sensations were leading 4-2. Sensations had a few costly errors, giving Faith 3 runs and the lead. Sensations were unable to come back.
For the second season in a row, the championship game saw a rookie team, Faith + 1. Congrats to them!! And for the second straight spring season, Below Us was in the finals. Way to go! From what I heard, the sore was 4-1, Below Us.
Great job, boys in Black. Hopefully you'll go up to Boston and rep us well in the Nationals!

Thanks again Troy for reffing, and happy birthday
To everyone, our league took a big step forward and is getting deeper and better...this season saw huge improvement from teams like 12 Step and the Wackos, and I know some of the teams in the other conference improved as well. There is a big difference in the quality of play this year from last spring, even with Short Bus breaking up. The league isn't as top heavy since Sack Lunch left, but there are 4-5 more really solid teams replacing or evolving from what were mediocre teams in seasons past. New teams like Army of Skanks and Faith +1 are for real when they want to play. I'm disappointed we didn't play Sensations, they obviously had a strong squad, and I'm surprised 1829 didn't show up like they used to.
We're leaning towards going to Boston, we just need to make sure we get commitments from some of our key players and ladies that they can make it...it doesn't make sense to go all that way and not bring your best team. DC Star is a stronger division than it seems to get credit for (or so Taylor tells me) and it would really benefit from some national exposure. Below Us is taking the fall off again, because the fall is for football, but we may very well be up for a pick-up game or two in August if we end up doing the Boston trip.
Congrats on a great season everyone. Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time and worked hard to make it all happen, from scheduling to charity work to setting up fields to reffing. Thank you again Wackos for rescheduling the "wedding game" and for putting up with a tough triple-header.
