Hi All, Kimmie is retiring after one season of charity chair so she can ride off into the kickball sunset and not be responsible for anything next season. SO..... we need a charity chair for fall season. As you all saw this season, many of our social events are tied into charity, so Leslie is around to give you support as social chair, and we've got board members, and hopefully some committee members to help you. PLEASE let me know if you're interested. We may or may not need the following: Newsie Editor/Designer (I think we may have someone) FCA Intern - ask scotty, though I call it back after fall season. Social committee members Charity committee members - DEFINITELY need these

Also on that list....Game Day Field Coordinator and Head Ref!! :-) if you are going to resign, this is the first i've heard of it... hit me up offline. yes, we'll need a game-day coordinator b/c apparently the head refs don't think it's also up to them... Justin volunteered when he was uber excited about kickball, so the volunteering was spread out a little more.

You make it sound as if Kim is just ditching you and sticking you with a bunch of work. How about a thanks? She did an incredible amount of work this season putting all those events together and coming up with new ideas for raising money for charity. For instance, she spent close to 4 hours designing awards for the starries that were not even used. Not to mention all the money she raised. Close to $4,000. I'm impressed by that, and I think she did a great job. Personally, I think that's uncalled for to say that she is quiting the social chair just so she doesn't have to do anything next season. As for the head refs setting up the fields? From what I understood, the people with the late games one week and early games the next week were supposed to take the equipment and set up their own fields. Again, you are making it seem like Troy and Donnie were shirking their responsibilities. I know for a fact that Troy was always going early to set up the fields almost every week. As you said, these are volunteers, and I think we should be thanking them for doing a good job, not getting snippy when they decide they don't want to do it again next season.

Was that just an open letter to team Manwilli?
Kim stepped it up, now shes stepping down, I think she did a great job too, but she didnt raise ALL that money, yes she was integral but lets face it this division is what it is because everyone participates and we have a great set of volunteers.
As per the usual I'll take care of flipcup coordination, and tailgate organization...and pick up the slack here and there when people need it.
Maybe its time for Your Mom to step up ;-)

That wasn't an open letter to anyone. It was a response to what I thought were pretty rude comments.

I didnt get the rude impression at all, isnt riding off into the sunset the cool thing to do?
Regardless I do agree that charity tends to be a large undertaking and burns people out faster than a lot of the other positions...maybe we can parcel out the duties in the fall, have someone do Nats games, another United. Do we think that would help?

MA,
Trust me. Kimmie knows how much we appreciate her hard work. We tell her that everytime there is a charity update. Raising so much loot for the kids was a dream come true for a lot of us on the board.
The entire board that needs to be thanked for doing what they can to make this season a good one.

Agreed, if only there were some brave soul that had free time on their hands, possibly because they were unemployed or something. Someone like that would probably have time to figure out the price of mail order brides and such, so it only makes sense that they'd have the time to help out on the board somewhere....I really wish we knew someone like that...ahwell.

I'm gonna find where Scotty works and get him fired. Then he'll be the unemployed one.

All that energy could be channeled into so much more useful and kickball related productivity.

Marvin is right and we tell the board how much we do appreciate them. If people feel otherwise, I would hope they would come to him or me. You are not on the board, so I know you have no idea. I will not apologize for my comments, and it's too bad you thought they were rude, because that was not the intention, and really, it wasn't directed toward you, anyway. Talk to me directly if you have further concerns. I have an "open door" policy. Thank you.
